The Power of Breath
April 17th, 6:00-8:00pm
It is said we have 72,000 energy lines running through our bodies, known as nadis. Many of the poses/asanas and pranayamas/breathwork were created to stimulate these energy lines. Through stimulation the Prana moves more smoothly through our bodies helping to remove stagnation and dis-ease creating a healthier body and mind that is more aware of itself.
The Hatha Yoga Pradipika states that the easiest way to manipulate Prana (energy, life force) in the body is through kumbaka (breath retention). Breathing techniques were created to cleanse, clear and ground the practitioner.  Many of these techniques are now being used in pain management, stress relief and helping insomnia. Yogis understood the effects that breath manipulation (pranayama) had not only on the body but also the mind.

We will go over different techniques that can help activate, energize, focus and ground you on and off the mat. Techniques will include Viloma, Kumbaka, Bhramari, Nadis Shodhana, Kapalabhati, Bhastrika, and a few others. These pranayamas will be weaved into a slower flow vinyasa practice.
Investment $50.00

You, Me & the Gita
April 18th, 1:00-4:00pm
The Bhagavad Gita is one of the oldest stories of India and yet still one of the most relevant today. Dharma, your life’s work, karma, the actions needed to walk your path and tapas, the discipline needed to follow through is at the heart of this great story where Arjuna, a warrior, is having second thoughts about a war he is about to fight. The Gita is about his conversation with his charioteer Krishna about his doubts. We have all had doubts about actions that we needed to take. This workshop will go over the key points Krishna outlines in order to continue on our paths. There will be a two hour practice prior to an in depth discussion on this wonderful story.
